CollabNet, VersionOne Merge for New Agile Dev Tools

In the world of DevOps and agile development, West has met East: South San Francisco DevOps solutions provider CollabNet and Atlanta-based agile software integrator VersionOne are now one business entity. Terms of the merger transaction announced Aug. 7 were not released.

The newly combined company immediately claimed that it will offer the industry’s “most complete” agile development platform. This includes enterprise agile, ALM (application lifecycle management) collaboration, version control and DevOps solutions that already power application development and delivery for some of the world’s prominent businesses and government institutions.

The company said it will maintain the CollabNet name but will be headquartered in Atlanta. CollabNet CEO Flint Brenton will serve as CEO of the combined company, and VersionOne CEO Robert Holler will serve as Chief Strategy Officer.

CollabNet and VersionOne share the concept that the agile and DevOps approaches are interconnected practices managed with a single mindset through a fully integrated, flexible and governed value stream, Brenton said.

VersionOne is known as an innovator in enterprise agile development and has been recognized as such by industry research firms Gartner and IDC. Gartner’s most recent Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Agile Planning Tools names VersionOne as a leader, reflecting its established market position, breadth of adoption, global deployments and the architecture’s integration of other products.

VersionOne’s tools and platforms also offer support for portfolio management and established agile enterprise frameworks, including the Scaled Agile Framework and Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD). CollabNet will utilize the VersionOne brand for its Agile products.
